From my hotel balcony, I photographed this scene early in the morning in Wildwood, New Jersey. With one solitary person walking on the beach in front of a string of lifeless umbrellas and chairs, there was a peaceful calm about this inactive public scene, which I liked.
Learning about a different watercolor technique, I embellished the sky colors with a dry brush and used a toothpick dipped in ink to heighten the bright reflections of colors off the sand.
This piece would have been labeled watercolor instead of mixed media because I didn't reserve my whites early enough and had to use white gouache to make up for it.
