A Grandma’s Hope for Peace
As a grandmother myself and listening to the translation, I could not take my eyes off this vulnerable and  compassionate Ukrainian woman.
With her ¾ profile, I used an arsenal of browns, reds, and pink pastels to make up her sun burned and heavy lined features plus, I worked from top to bottom as pastel dust does always fall.
Drawing each crease and furrow, I imagined each decade that went by how she had endured some kind of lifestyle experience (good or bad). To me, her face expresses a story of a long family history and more purposely quietly shouts out her hopefulness and gratefulness of someday world peace.
