Looking out across the diagonal dug out, I immediately observed two kinds of people at the Philadelphia's Citizen's Ball Park. You were either focused on having fun waving at the Phanatic or paying serious attention to the Phillies game.
To keep my idea of expressing patterned, abstract crowds and not get sucked into every identifiable shirt, pants, heads, hands of the fans... I actually began pastel painting this picture upside down to achieve looseness in the shapes and colors. It helped me relax and not get too hung up on every realistic human detail.
